Viviana Ferreira - Hello Sebastian, I'm glad and grateful to make this interview with you. How did you know that you wanna be a composer?

Sebastian Szymánski - I am very grateful to you as well, It’s pleasure to give an interview to you. I have always liked music feeling its profound mission to touch the hearts. In a real way everything started when I was four thanks to my parents, as our home has always been filled up with it. I started playing the piano at the age of ten. I used to play especially classical music, however, it didn’t give me as much joy as improvisation which was getting more elaborated and the first music themes appeared…I was putting them down, elevated , and in this way I have developed my music work which needs much effort, enthusiasm, and first of all to be engaged in love to it. It isn’t just to be a passion..it’s life..I could, I can find in it the core of my happiness…

VF - For being Polish, which Polish composers influenced you?

SS - For sure, each of Polish great composers has taught me something new…nevertheless such musicians like Henryk Górecki, Wojciech Kilar, Zbigniew Preisner, Grażyna Bacewicz have influenced me in some way inspiring my hidden thoughts to be disclosed.

VF - And about your upcoming projects? Can you tell us about them? What comes around in 2011/2012?

SS - There are a lot of plans connected with the approaching future of 2011/2012… How many of them will be realized – only God knows. .Now I am working on the music to two films. What is more, In October 2011 my music project – the premiere of Ad Astra is going to be performed in my home town Legionowo – you are welcome in here! This project covers the film themes and other music pieces I have composed. They are bound to be heard with the orchestra, piano, some other rare ethnic instruments (but it’ s a secret – just listen to it), woman choir, soloists, and so on. Here I would like to mention the names of some greatest musicians taking part in this project – Grzech Piotrowski, Sławek Jaskułke. Furthermore, for the sound realization (very important part in the concert) will be done by Rafał Smoleń ( e.g Preisner’s recording performer ). In 2012 the premiere of my next music performance “Magnificemus” – the classical composition written for symphonic orchestra, SATB choir and great soloists will be displayed. Then, my Passio Domini Nostri Jesu Christi is going to appear in Quito Basilic in Ecuador… and later it will be the good time to write music to the film by very inspiring film director. But it’s a secret now. It will be really enchanting

VF - Which of your compositions is your favorite?

SS - I like all of my piece of music; in each there is a piece of me. But two emerge as closer to my heart: Maria, and Introduction to Passio Domini Nostri.

VF - Every composer has a musical instrument with which to identify more... what is your favorite instrument?

SS - The piano, but I love cello as well.

VF - And what are your favorite soundtracks?

SS - My favourite soundtrack - there are the sounds which come to me from the surrounding environment everyday – my favourite film – that is life with its unpredictable, surprising screenplay made up by invisible hand.

VF - And finally, what you dream about your profession that you have not done yet?

SS - To be heard in the people’s hearts all over the world, to make life better with the feeling that everything has own meaning and sense of existence… looking up at the stars and looking down on the ground…where we live.

VF - Well, I would like to thank you again for giving us this interview. The website Scoretrack.net sincerely thanks!
